What a QR code contains

A QR code encodes data in a square pattern that a compatible camera can read. It can contain a website URL, plain text, email action, phone number or Wi-Fi settings. The code itself does not host a page; it only carries the information you put into it.

Create one that works

Choose a content type in the QR Code Generator, enter the details and download the PNG. A longer payload makes the pattern denser, so keep link text short when possible. Use a higher error correction level if the code may be printed small or partly obscured.

• Scan the finished code with a phone before sharing it.
• Use strong contrast and leave white space around the edges.
• Check the destination URL and its privacy policy.

For campaign links

If you need campaign reporting, build a UTM URL first and encode that completed URL in the QR code. Make sure the page loads well on mobile devices.
